Tim Gresham / Frequency / April 04 – 21 2012
Tim’s practice involves two very contrasting mediums; photography and tapestry. Neither is used to develop studies for the other, but reciprocate ideas with common characteristics such as subject matter, pattern and formalism.
This body of work, with their cropped compositions suggest patterns continuing into space, into time. Photography has a complex relationship with time. The structural patterns of architecture can have an immeasurable stillness, or the light reflected off the surface of the water, when photographed is a moment never to be repeated. The works in Frequency reflect the time sensitive quality of photography, with ideas of pattern, optical effect and universal concepts of geometry and rhythm.
